The Delta Faucet Design System

Overview

The Delta Faucet Company came to BORN looking to revamp their digital presence and undergo a re-platform initiative. The main parent company owns and operates 4 separate faucet brands each catering to different audiences. The largest and most notable of those brands being Delta Faucet.

The major benefits from the Delta Faucet Design System included not only single brand continuity, but a shared component library that can be used across multiple brands while still maintaining each brands visual identity. While the ramp-up cost wasn’t small, the return on investment for future development and eliminating redundant code and visual components was great.

CHALLENGE
The client had a hard time managing their complete digital footprint across various websites and apps. Because of this, their brand suffered from visual inconsistencies, design debt, and deprecated code. There was no single source of truth when it came to design guidelines or decision making.

SOLUTION
Create a design system in InVision DSM (UI Kit) coupled with Pattern Lab (live coded components) in an effort to centralize the component library. This can then be used across the internal Delta Faucet team and a variety of their service partners.

Note: This project was completed prior to DSM Live Components feature being released.
